Well, it wasn't cheap. But after 4 years, I don't really think about that. This is a great chair, and I haven't had any back problems, ever at all, since I got it. I work 8-16 hours a day, and the Aeron never lets me down. Cheaper than a chiropractor!

The Humanscale Freedom and Steelcase Leap are also excellent chairs. I did consider them too. In my few minutes of testing, they seemed to be almost as comfortable, and didn't need the 10 minutes of adjustments that I had to give the Aeron before I was really comfy in it. But ultimately, I bought the "size C executive aeron polished" because

#1: It was still comfortable after I started to sweat
#2: The armrests felt just right under my forearms
#3: Herman Miller! In 15 years, I will have no trouble getting even the most esoteric part for this chair.

I love my chair.

Note: The shiny silver finish, "full adjustability", and "lumbar support" are near-worthless unless you have to impress minions. If you're paying for this yourself, save many hundreds of dollars and just buy the basic chair with leather armrests (you don't want the sticky plastic standard armrests).

I will have to admit that when I first got the chair and sat down in it that I was not overly impressed - I expected it to be immediately super-comfortable. It actually takes sitting in it for hours to truly appreciate it. It becomes pretty obvious that after an 80 hour work week with no back stress / pain from sitting in a chair that you made a good choice.

I have spent untold amounts of money over the years buying basic office chairs from local Office Max, Staples and other retailers and have never kept one more than a year or so. The seat and back fabric feels a little cheap at first but after years of sitting in the chair with no noticeable deformity to the material - it very obviously is not cheap.

I have now had this chair for nearly 3 years and it is no worse for the wear than when I got it. It comes with a 12 year replacement warranty - this means it will cost me far less over the course of the 12 years than cheap, retail chairs.

I am a decent sized guy (240lbs) and work 8-16 hours per day in a home office. I wouldn't trade this chair for any other office chair I have ever used.

The chair was delivered quickly and all was in good condition. It is a heavy box and the FedEx delivery man put it just inside my house for me. It came with two different sets of instructions, one being the correct method to assemble the chair, one being an impossible method to achieve. The seller had good communication, but their Order Summary stated ,225.00 instead of ,099.00 that Amazon quoted, and lucky only ,099.00 was charged to my credit card!

So what do I think about the chair? I had extremely high expectations that were based on other feedback found on Amazon and the well known quality of Herman Miller. I have to be honest to say that I am frankly disappointed with the chair for multiple reasons:

1. The outside box was NOT stamped Herman Miller. Rather, it was sort of a generic (but very solid) box. For such an expensive chair, I would have thought it would be clearly stamped with what it contained including the model number and logo of the manufacturer.

2. The quality of the fabric (seat/back) is tough, yet also feels very cheap to the touch. The "leather" arms are not plush, but feel much more similar to plastic than leather (being leather, if it really is leather, adds absolutely no value). The plastic molded frame feels like a child's toy. The buttons and knobs do not feel like they would last very long.

3. The chair does not seem to be stamped Herman Miller anywhere. Just two "address labels" that immediately peel off the bottom of the chair identify the manufacturer and model number. A second peel off contains some information about the contents in relationship to fire codes.

4. No where on the chair does it indicate the "size C" that I ordered. This is strange more than anything.

5. Very minimal literature, instructions, warranty information, or anything else was included.

6. In terms of comfort, I was expecting to sit on a "thrown" and have my back feel immediately better than any other chair I've ever sat on. I'm truly disappointed and the chair feels no better than various chairs you may find at Staples for 0.

7. The arms of the chair pivot to the right and left. This does NOTHING and adds no value. Some of the other adjustments turn, but I don't notice anything different. Basically, there are a lot of knobs, but nothing makes the chair truly comfortable.

I strongly recommend that you DO NOT buy this chair. I know that is contrary to so many other posts that are online. But it is possible that this manufacturer has started to make very low quality chairs. My wife is very upset with my purchase and wants me to return it. I'm one of those that just feel I am stuck with it, even at a 00 price tag. But I promise you, you should stay clear from this chair and just buy a high-end model at staples, which usually sell for 0.

Trust me... this is not luxury, comfortable, or even cool looking. This is a totally useless chair and not worth your time or money. Think long and hard before you buy this chair.
